WATER ANALYSIS

GROUNDWATER MONITORING WELLS

Our testing procedures are:

1)      NH4-N (Ammonium)

US EPA, Methods for Chemical Analysis of Water and Wastewater, EPA-600/4-20 Revised March 1983, Method 351.2.  We use Lachat Instruments, Milwaukee, WI; Quik Chem Method 10-107-06-2-A, Ammonia in Surface Water, Wastewater (1992)

2)   NO3-N (Nitrate)

US EPA, Methods for Chemical Analysis of Water and Wastewater, EPA-600/4-20 Revised March 1983, Method 353.2.  We use Lachat Instruments, Milwaukee, WI; Quik Chem Method 10-107-01-1-A, Nitrate/Nitrite, Nitrite in Surface Water, Wastewater (1995)

3)      Cl (Chloride)

Standard Methods for the Examination of Water and Wastewater, 18th Edition (1992) page 4-49.  Method 4500-Cl- B.  Argentometric Method.

Collection of Samples:

1)      Sample Labels:

The water testing sample bottles should be labeled with the sender address and sample number or sample identification.

2)      Chain-of-Custody record:

Fill out sample Information Sheets (obtained from Ward Laboratories) with sender address, customer or client ID, location ID and sample number to accompany each group of samples.   A note should indicate analysis desired.   Retain one copy for your records.

3)      Sample Delivery:

Cool samples as soon as taken and send as soon as practical in a cooler with ice packs.   Coolers will be returned to sender.  Be sure to enclose Sample Information Sheets.

4)      The laboratory assigns laboratory numbers to each container and records numbers on

Sample Information Sheet.

5)      After results are completed a report of analytical data will be sent to sample submitter along with Sample Information Sheet.  Reports may also be e-mailed or faxed.
